CTAN Update: splitindex

Date: April 6, 2013 12:28:16 PM CEST
Markus Kohm submitted an update to the splitindex package. Summary description: Unlimited number of indexes with SplitIndex and splitidx.sty License type: lppl Announcement text:
Since version 1.2 the binaries for several platforms are optional. The perl implementation of splitindex is still the primary one. It is recommended to use this, if perl is available. But there's a new TeXLua implementation of splitindex, splitindex.tlu and splitindex_main.tlu, that may be used, if perl is not available. Note, that splitindex.tlu is only a wrapper to splitindex_main.tlu, that makes it easier to install new version of splitindex in TEXMFLOCAL or TEXMFHOME. Michael Palmer has improved the English user manual of splitidx and splitindex.
This package is located at http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/splitindex . More information is at http://www.ctan.org/pkg/splitindex (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear). We are supported by the TeX Users Group http://www.tug.org . Please join a users group; see http://www.tug.org/usergroups.html .
Thanks for the upload. For the CTAN Team Rainer Schöpf

splitindex – Unlimited number of indexes

SplitIndex consists of a package, splitidx, and a small program, splitindex. The package may be used to produce one index or several indexes. Without splitindex (for example, using the index package), the number of indexes is limited by the number of ’s output streams. But using the program you may use even more than 16 indexes: splitidx outputs only a single file \jobname.idx and the program splits that file into several raw index files and calls your favorite index processor for each of the files.
