Date: March 22, 2011 7:45:39 AM CET
On Sun, 20 Mar 2011 Walter Daems submitted an update to the verdana package. Summary description: Macros and metrics for using Verdana with LaTeX License type: lppl Announcement text: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Verdana' is a common font. It is readily available on machines with a Microsoft operating system and can be downloaded on non MS-machines (check the documentation for this). This wrapper provides a T1 encoded font. No effort has been spent on making the font ready for use in math expressions. The package has an option 'nofligs' to avoid the f-ligature problems with the more recent Verdana versions (v2008 and v2010).
This package is located at http://mirror.ctan.org/fonts/verdana . More information is at http://www.ctan.org/pkg/verdana (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear). We are supported by the TeX Users Group http://www.tug.org . Please join a users group; see http://www.tug.org/usergroups.html .
Thanks for the upload. For the CTAN Team Rainer Schöpf

The package provides a T1-encoded wrapper for using the Verdana (sans-serif) font with pdf. The TrueType files are not part of the package; if they are not provided with your operating system, you may download them (address in the documentation).

Not all distributions of the fonts offer the f-ligatures (fi, ff and fl) common in -related fonts; the package has an option to avoid usage of such ligatures.
