Line num­ber­ing in LaTeX. Note that the code here works with the LaTeX 2.09 out­put rou­tine, and can­not there­fore be used with cur­rent LaTeX.— its re­place­ment was num­line, but that has it­self been de­clared ob­so­lete, in favour of lineno.
