drop – Dropped cap­i­tals at the start of a para­graph (LaTeX 2.09)

The macros drop and en­large the first let­ter(s) of a para­graph; there is no au­toma­tion of the font used — the user is prompted for a font name.
The drop­ping and (es­pe­cially) let­trine pack­ages, for LaTeX 2e, of­fer far more so­phis­ti­ca­tion and fa­cil­i­ties.
