read­prov – Pro­vides GetFileInfo with­out the need to load the file

The pack­age pro­vides a \GetFileInfo com­mand (as in the LaTeX stan­dard doc pack­age, but with­out the need to load the doc pack­age). The pack­age also pro­vides new ro­bust (ex­pand­able) vari­ants of \GetFileInfo, even with­out load­ing the file it­self (read­ing the file is stopped when the req­ui­site in­for­ma­tion is found). So, for exaple, you can de­scribe pack­ages that are in­com­pat­i­ble with each other or with pack­ages that your doc­u­ment uses, or even re­port about class files (that are plainly not load­able).
Files ex­am­ined in this way also en­ter the out­put of \list­files.
The pack­age is part of the file­info bun­dle.
