tex-gyre-heros – A font fam­ily that ex­tends URW Nim­bus Sans L

The TeX Gyre Heros fam­ily of sans-serif fonts is based on URW Nim­bus Sans L. The orig­i­nal font, Hel­vetica, was pre­pared by Max Miedinger (with Ed­uard Hoff­mann) in 1957 at the Haas type foundry.
The stan­dard faces of Heros have been greatly ex­tended, and con­tain nearly 1100 glyphs each. The fam­ily is avail­able both in Adobe Type 1 and in OpenType for­mats, and LaTeX sup­port (for use with a va­ri­ety of en­cod­ings) is pro­vided. Viet­namese char­ac­ters were added by Han The Thanh.
