hi­ero­glyph – Hiero­glyph fonts and other sup­port

HieroTeX is a sys­tem for type­set­ting an­cient Egyp­tian hi­ero­glyphs. It con­tains a hi­ero­glyphic font, a num­ber of style files, and a helper pro­gram in C called sesh which al­lows one to type hi­ero­glyphic texts us­ing the ‘manuel de codage’, which is the cur­rent stan­dard for en­cod­ing an­cient Egyp­tian. The fonts in the base sys­tem are dis­tributed as Meta­font source, but Adobe type 1 ver­sions are also pro­vided.
