noprot – Avoid the need for protection

An ap­proach to re­duc­ing the need for \pro­tect. The pack­age re-writes the \thanks, \cap­tion and sec­tion­ing com­mands (\chap­ter, \sec­tion, …), \ad­d­con­tentsline, \ad­dto­con­tents and \bib­item, to sup­press the ex­pan­sion of their ar­gu­ments when those ar­gu­ments are writ­ten to the .aux file.
The mech­a­nism is not en­tirely sat­is­fac­tory: there is still a prob­lem with things writ­ten with the \mark* com­mands, and one loses the fa­cil­ity of mak­ing di­rect ref­er­ence to the cur­rent page (i.e., one must use \pageref for such things).
