package xstring update version v1.4 2008/11/04 This package does not require LaTeX (but eTeX is required). Consequently, the xstring.tex file should be installed in the tex/ subtree. =========== Changes =========== * from this version, arguments can be (La)TeX code, i.e chars, control sequences, groups between braces, and tokens with other catcodes (excepted catcode 6 and 14). New code for almost all macros. * New expansion mode : \expandarg The first token of each argument is expanded one time, then the macro is called. * many corrections in the manual.

xstring – String manipulation for

The package provides macros for manipulating strings — testing a string’s contents, extracting substrings, substitution of substrings and providing numbers such as string length, position of, or number of recurrences of, a substring.

The package works equally in Plain and (though e- is always required). The strings to be processed may contain (expandable) macros.
