This package has been updated at tug.ctan.org and should soon be at your local mirror. Thank you, Jim Hefferon Saint Michael's College ............................................................................ The following information was provided by our fellow contributor: Name of contribution: Toptesi v.5.00 Author's name: Claudio Beccari Location on CTAN: /contrib/toptese Summary description: This is a bundel of files for typesetting university theses in a multilanguage environment. License type: lppl Announcement text:
This is a main upgrade of the bundle Toptesi; the main difference is the new version has provisions for saving the output thesis file in PDF/a-1b compliant form. This format is particularly useful for archiving. The PDF/A difficulties are discussed in the /english and Italian documentation and several fine modifications are already included in the class file so as to avoid the user to fiddle with some obscure "features" that may forbid the output file to fully satisfy the PDF/A specifications established by the reguation ISO 19005-1:2005.
This package is located at http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/toptesi . More information is at http://tug.ctan.org/pkg/toptesi (if the package is new it may take a day for that information to appear). We are supported by the TeX Users Group http://www.tug.org . TOPtesi – Bundle for typesetting multilanguage theses

This bundle contains everything needed for typesetting a bachelor, master, or PhD thesis in Italian (or in any other language supported by : the bundle is constructed to support multilingual use). The infix strings may be selected and specified at will by means of a configuration file, so as to customize the layout of the front page to the requirements of a specific university. Thanks to its language management, the bundle is suited for multilanguage theses that are becoming more and more frequent thanks to the double degree programs of the European Community Socrates programs.

Toptesi is designed to save the PDF version of a thesis in PDF/A-1b compliant mode and with all the necessary metadata.
