This pack­age adds the abil­ity to use un­der­scores (_) to add ital­ics and bold type, sim­i­lar to sim­ple markup lan­guages (eg. Mark­down). Just add \usep­a­ck­age{easy­for­mat} to your pream­ble and you'll write: _italic_, __bold__ and ___bolditalic___!

easy­for­mat – Add eas­ier bolds and ital­ics

This pack­age al­lows the use of un­der­scores to be­gin resp. end italic or bold for­mat­ting as an al­ter­na­tive to the stan­dard \tex­tit{…} and/or \textbf{…}.

The un­der­score’s mean­ing in math­mode re­mains the same.
