CTAN update: latexmk

Date: August 8, 2018 9:18:53 PM CEST
John Collins submitted an update to the latexmk package. Version number: 4.59 2018-08-07 License type: gpl2 Summary description: Fully automated LaTeX document generation Announcement text:
Add configuration variable $bibtex_fudge to allow to choose whether to use the fudge that made bibtex run correctly when an output directory (or aux directory) is specified. (A planned future version of bibtex in TeXLive 2019 will not need the fudge.) Do better to ensure xelatex gets its -no-pdf option. Remove double quote characters in files on command line to correspond to behavior of tex programs. Give fatal error when name of file on command line is not allowed by tex programs or gives problematic behavior. Use TEXINPUTS as search path for missing source files for custom dependency. Only give warning about differing expected and output filenames when the extensions differ. Correct problem that sometimes occurred if the environment variable PERL_UNICODE is set.

latexmk – Fully automated document generation

Latexmk completely automates the process of generating a document. Given the source files for a document, latexmk issues the appropriate sequence of commands to generate a .dvi, .ps, .pdf or hardcopy version of the document.

An important feature is the “preview continuous mode”, where the script watches all of the source files (primary file and included and graphics files), and reruns , etc., whenever a source file has changed. Thus a previewer can offer a display of the document’s latest state.
