pagefoots – Footnote numbering per page
The code resets footnote numbers for each page, and ‘numbers’ footnotes using \fnsymbol. It needs two passes of LaTeX to ensure the renumbering is correct (as usual, it communicates information between passes using the .aux file).
Note that the package was written for (old) LaTeX 2.09; its performance cannot be guaranteed with current LaTeX.
