# CTAN Update: nicematrix

Date: January 11, 2020 7:02:35 PM CET
François Pantigny submitted an update to the nicematrix package. Version: 3.9 2020-01-10 License: lppl1.3 Summary description: Improve the typesetting of mathematical matrices with TikZ Announcement text:
New command \OnlyMainNiceMatrix; this command may be useful when using \newcolumntype to create new types of columns for vertical rules in the array. New command \NiceMatrixLastEnv: gives the value of the number of the last environment of nicematrix. This command may be useful when creating environments upon the environments of nicematrix. New options 'create-medium-nodes' and 'create-large-nodes' to create only the 'medium nodes' or only the 'large nodes'. Previously, there was only the option 'create-extra-nodes'. The new code is faster in several circumstances.
The package’s Catalogue entry can be viewed at https://ctan.org/pkg/nicematrix The package’s files themselves can be inspected at http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/nicematrix/

## nicematrix – Improve the typesetting of mathematical matrices with TikZ

This package provides new environments similar to the environments matrix, pmatrix, bmatrix, etc. of amsmath and mathtools.

In these new environments, a TikZ  node is created for each cell of the matrix.

The user can use these nodes directly but nicematrix also provides commands which use these nodes to draw continuous dotted lines from two cells of the matrix (the result is more aesthetic than the classical result obtained using \cdots, \vdots, \ddots, etc.).

This package also provides a control over the width of the columns and the possibility to add an exterior line and an exterior column.

nicematrix requires and loads amsmath, array, expl3, l3keys2e, xparse, tikz, as well as the TikZ library fit.
