Garamondx has been modified to ignore the presence of babel, as the work-around that was in previous versions of garamondx.sty is no longer needed. (An obscure bug in LaTeX, now resolved, was the cause of the incompatibility.)

garamondx – ‘Expert’-like extensions to URW Garamond, and maths italic
The package adds small caps, f-ligatures and old style figures to URW GaramondNo8. The package also provides a matching maths italic add-on for use with newtxmath.
The package makes use of the etoolbox package.
