David Purton submitted an update to the scripture package. Version: 2.0 2023-12-27 License: lppl1.3c Summary description: A LaTeX style for typesetting Bible quotations Announcement text:
Changes for version 2.0: The most significant change for version 2.0 is switching the scripture environment to always use a LaTeX list environment. This improves reliability within other lists, as well as vertical and horizontal spacing. There may be some minor difference in behaviour due to this change. There's also a new style option which can be used to apply a previously defined set of options to a scripture quotation. Summary: - Add \scripturestyle function - Add inline/reference/format option - Add inline/reference/sep option - Add inline/version/delim option - Add inline/version/format option - Add style option - Bug fixes - Switch scripture to a LaTeX list based environment
The package’s Catalogue entry can be viewed at https://ctan.org/pkg/scripture The package’s files themselves can be inspected at https://mirrors.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/scripture/

scripture – A style for typesetting Bible quotations

The scripture package provides a set of macros for typesetting quotations from the Bible. It provides many features commonly seen in Bibles such as dropped text for chapter numbers, superscripts for verse numbers, indented lines for poetry sections, narrow sections and hanging paragraphs. A reference for the quotation can optionally be added.
