Will Robertson submitted an update to the unicode-math package. Version: 0.8m 2018-07-29 License: lppl1.3c Summary description: Unicode mathematics support for XeTeX and LuaTeX Announcement text:
## v0.8m (2018/07/29) * Restore behaviour of legacy syntax `x_\mathrm{x}` (i.e., with no braces). While strictly ‘incorrect’, this usage is widely used. N.B. this syntax is not supported for the `\symXX` commands. * Add `\cuberoot` and `\fourthroot` as proper radicals. * Some additional input subscripts/superscripts. * Some documentation additions (thanks for the contributions). * Deprecation warning: the *internal* `\__um_switchto_XX:` commands will be dropped in a future release in favour of `\__um_switch_to:n {XX}` (or similar). These are internal commands and shouldn't be used by third-parties; please write if you have a use case.

unicode-math – Unicode mathematics support for and Lua

This package provides a comprehensive implementation of unicode maths for XeLaTeX and Lua. Unicode maths requires an OpenType mathematics font, of which there are now a number available via CTAN.

While backwards compatibility is strived for, there are some differences between the legacy mathematical definitions in and amsmath, and the Unicode mathematics definitions. Care should be taken when transitioning from a legacy workflow to a Unicode-based one.
