- New tool in the fontools col­lec­tion: - splitttc: splits an OpenType Col­lec­tion file into sep­a­rate fonts - Changes in au­toinst: - Added -mergeweights and -merge­shapes op­tions - Im­proved pars­ing of fonts' widths and weights - Im­proved map­ping of widths and weights to NFSS codes - Warn when in­stalling fonts from mul­ti­ple fam­i­lies - Added (sim­ple) au­to­matic recog­ni­tion of sanserif and type­writer fonts - Added en­cod­ing files for T3 and TS3 to dis­tri­bu­tion - Bugs fixed: - al­ways log re­sults of font info pars­ing - -in­fe­ri­ors with­out value would gob­ble next op­tion or ar­gu­ment - fixed er­ror check­ing af­ter calls to otfinfo

fontools – Tools to sim­plify us­ing fonts (es­pe­cially TT/OTF ones)

This pack­age pro­vides a few tools to ease us­ing fonts (es­pe­cially TrueType/OpenType ones) with and fontinst:

  • afm2afm – reen­code .afm files; de­signed to re­place fontinst’s \reen­code­font for big .afm files;
  • au­toinst – sim­plify the use of the LCDF TypeTools by cre­at­ing a com­mand file for otftotfm, plus .fd and .sty files; and
  • ot2kpx – ex­tract all kern­ing pairs from an OpenType font.
