On Sat, 30 Jul 2011 Ei­nar An­dreas Rød­land sub­mit­ted an up­date to the tex­count pack­age. Li­cense type: lppl An­nounce­ment text:
TeX­count is a Perl script for count­ing words in TeX/LaTeX doc­u­ments, also avail­able as a web-ser­vice. TeX­count ver­sion 2.3 now comes with added lan­guage sup­port in­clud­ing East Asian lan­guages, cus­tomis­able sum­mary out­put, and im­proved han­dling of large doc­u­ments and multi-file doc­u­ments. (NB: A bug from 2.3.beta has been fixed which was also in the ver­sion first made avail­able 28 July.)

count – Count words in a doc­u­ment

count is a Perl script that counts words in the text of files. It has rules for han­dling most of the com­mon macros, and can pro­vide colour-coded out­put show­ing which parts of the text have been counted.

The pack­age script is avail­able as a Web ser­vice via its home page.
